CRICOS Provider Registration

    Get Started with This Skill

    Overview

Prepare the Quality Management System for CRICOS registration in Australia. Covers Cancellation of Enrolment policy and the mandatory 20-day appeal period (National Code 2018); validates policy with validate_cancellation_appeal_period. Complements student support and attendance (cricos_compliance_shield).

    Example

You: We’re renewing our CRICOS registration. I’ve updated our Cancellation of Enrolment policy in policies/cancellation-of-enrolment.md. Can you check it meets the 20-day appeal requirement?

Agent: I’ll run the cancellation appeal period validator on that file. (Runs validate_cancellation_appeal_period.) The check shows the policy addresses cancellation of enrolment and the appeals process, but the 20-day period isn’t explicitly stated. Add a sentence such as: “Students have 20 working days from the date of the written notice to lodge an internal appeal.” I can suggest exact wording from the National Code reference if you want.

You: Add that sentence to the policy and run the check again.

Agent: (Edits the policy and re-runs the validator.) Validator passed: policy now includes cancellation scope, internal appeals process, and the mandatory 20-day appeal period. Ready for your QMS pack.

    Excerpt of a draft policy

The agent helps you draft or tighten the Cancellation of Enrolment policy so it passes the validator. Example of the kind of wording that satisfies the checks:

    ## Cancellation and Suspension of Enrolment

This policy applies to the cancellation or suspension of an overseas student's enrolment.

Before a cancellation or suspension takes effect, the College will:
    1. Notify the student in writing of the intention to cancel or suspend and the grounds.
    2. Advise the student to seek advice from the Department of Home Affairs on visa implications.
    3. Give the student the opportunity to complete an internal appeals process.

**Internal appeal:** A student may lodge an internal appeal against the decision. The student has **20 working days** from the date of the written notice to submit an appeal. Cancellation or suspension will not take effect until the appeal process is complete, unless the student's health or wellbeing (or that of others) is at risk.

validate_cancellation_appeal_period checks that the document states cancellation/suspension scope, an internal appeals process, and the mandatory 20-day appeal period.

    Extension tool

validate_cancellation_appeal_period — Run on the Cancellation of Enrolment policy document after drafting or updating. It validates:

    CheckRequirement
Cancellation of Enrolment scopePolicy clearly addresses cancellation or suspension of (overseas student) enrolment
Internal appeals processPolicy refers to an internal appeal or appeals process before cancellation takes effect
20-day appeal periodPolicy explicitly states a 20-day (or 20 working days) period within which the student may lodge an appeal

If any check fails, the tool reports what is missing so you can add the required wording and re-run before submitting the QMS to ASQA or TEQSA.
