OGCIO Data Maturity Assessment Plan
Get Started with This SkillOverview
Write an assessment plan for an Ireland OGCIO Data Maturity self-assessment: scope, stakeholders, timeline, and approach aligned to the OGCIO step-by-step guide and DAMA-DMBoK (11 data areas, 5 maturity levels). The plan covers the Inform, Plan & Tailor, and Assess planning phases; findings and reporting are produced separately after the assessment is run.
Getting Started
Add your source materials to the project workspace, then activate the OGCIO Data Maturity Assessment Plan skill. The agent will guide you through goals, data areas, scope, stakeholders, approach, communications, and timeline.
Example Conversation
Below is an example of how a typical assessment-planning session unfolds. The agent aligns the plan with the OGCIO Self-Assessment Guide and DAMA-DMBoK.
You: We need an assessment plan for our OGCIO data maturity self-assessment. We’re a medium-sized PSB and want to focus on governance, quality, and security first.
Agent: I’ll draft the plan using the OGCIO framework reference. I’ll include the Inform phase (familiarise with DAMA-DMBoK, identify stakeholders), Plan & Tailor (goals, data areas in scope—we can limit to Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Security with rationale for others later), organisational scope, approach (e.g. workshops plus short survey), and communications. Should the plan assume use of the OGCIO sample questions (sentiment + open-ended) for those three areas?
You: Yes. We have six weeks and can run two workshops plus an online survey. Include a simple timeline and deliverables.
Agent: I’ve added a 6-week timeline with milestones for stakeholder engagement, question tailoring, workshops, survey, and handover to analysis. Deliverables: tailored question set, response summary, and input pack for the findings report.
Sample Output Excerpt
Below is a representative excerpt from an OGCIO data maturity assessment plan.
1. Goals
- Demonstrate commitment to improving data management capability.
- Benchmark current processes and identify gaps in governance, quality, and security.
- Produce inputs for a data strategy roadmap.
2. Data areas in scope (DAMA-DMBoK)
- Data Governance — Policies, roles, culture.
- Data Quality — Standards, measurement, improvement.
- Data Security — Access, confidentiality, breach prevention.
Other areas (e.g. Architecture, Metadata) may be included in a later assessment; rationale: focus on foundational capabilities first.
3. Organisational scope
Whole organisation; participation from IT, policy, and operational leads.
4. Approach
- Two half-day workshops (mixed grades) using OGCIO sample questions (sentiment + open-ended), tailored for the three areas.
- Short online survey for broader staff (same question set) with optional free text.
- Background questions: role, level of engagement with data.
5. Timeline (6 weeks)
| Week | Phase / milestone |
|---|---|
| 1 | Stakeholder list agreed; communications sent; question set finalised |
| 2–3 | Workshop 1; survey open |
| 4 | Workshop 2; survey closed |
| 5 | Collation and handover to analysis |
| 6 | Input pack for findings report |
6. Deliverables
- Tailored question set (Governance, Quality, Security).
- Collated responses (sentiment + qualitative).
- Brief evidence log and input pack for the findings report.
Extension and validation
This skill does not include custom validation tools. Elaboration is guided by the workflow in the skill and the OGCIO framework reference (DAMA-DMBoK areas, maturity levels, step-by-step phases). You can add extension tools later in extension.ts (e.g. to check that all planned phases or data areas are covered) if you want automated validation.
