Overview

Draft and validate a healthcare proxy or advance directive (medical POA and optional living will) in the USA.

Getting Started

Add your source materials to the project workspace, then activate the USA Medical Power of Attorney skill. The agent will guide you through the process step by step.

Example conversation

You: I want to name my sister as my healthcare agent and add a living will so my wishes about life support are clear.

Agent: I’ll draft a medical power of attorney (advance directive) naming your sister as healthcare agent and optional successor, define when her authority applies (e.g. when your physician determines you cannot make decisions), and add a living-will section for life-sustaining treatment and artificial nutrition. I’ll run medical_poa_check to ensure all required elements are present.

Living will (optional) — If I am in a terminal condition or persistent vegetative state, I do not want life-sustaining treatment except for comfort care. I do / do not want artificial nutrition and hydration.

Extension and validation

The skill includes medical_poa_check, which validates the healthcare POA or advance directive for: principal designation, healthcare agent (proxy) designation, scope or authority to make medical decisions, and when the agent’s authority applies (e.g. incapacity or physician determination). Run it after drafting to confirm required elements are present.
